Flower Island is the first publication by photographer Olimpia Taliani de Marchio. The book encompasses the visual universe of the artist, gathering a selection of images taken in recent years that advance a female poetics of subjectivity, with its roots in nature. The idea of vulnerability as a transformative element for women is the common thread linking the visual elements of the project: portraits, self-portraits and floral shapes coexist and come into communication in a stream of timeless images evoking the freedom to be, feel and act in the world.

Artist’s bio

Olimpia Taliani (1994, Italy) is an Italian photographer based in Milan. In her research she gives particular attention to the world of women and nature. A nostalgic pursuit of small things, gestures, expressions and emotions. Flower Island is her first photo book.
